“Children see magic because they look for it.”

Today we unfold the story of one such magical child who is a passionate Kathak dancer with a strong will to bring change. Her name is Shiny Sharma an 11 year old in class 6th from ManavSthali School, New Delhi. She is the recipient of the National Excellence Award and Kalki Gaurav Samman Award. Along with dance Shiny also excels in academics. She is recognized by the title of “Kathak Queen” from India’s Talent Fight program. She has won Winner Trophy in Delhi Dance Championships and was invited as a guest celebrity in the program of A.I.R F.M. Rainbow Chhote Ustad and had a talk show with R.J. Rahul in AKASHWANI, New Delhi.

Shiny shines bright like a son and radiates a positive aura around. She is a source of energy and happiness for her grandparents. Whenever she holds her father’s hand she feels like no one is stronger than her father to her. Her mother is her best friend and her brother is her best company. Kathak is her passion and she started learning it from the early age of 6years from Lucknow Gharana by Guru Tulika Pal Ji. Now she is pursuing her training from Gandharv Mahavidyalay by Kathak exponent Guru Moumala Nayak Ji. Shiny has qualified her Prathama Level examination and Madhyama Level examination from Bhathkhande Vidyapith, Lucknow. . She wants to promote her Indian tradition all over the world by her dance KATHAK. While performing on western music during competitions, she clearly announces that she uses western music while performing Kathak just to prove that- “East or West, My India is the best.” India’s Talent fight T. V. Show made a documentary “Shiney The Kathak Queen” for her noteworthy achievements.

While we were all in lockdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak Shiny enthusiastically took a 21 days challenge and started an online initiative on her YouTube channel and Facebook. The online campaign promoted to stay at home and make a chain to break the chain. It was her constant effort to post a new video every morning with a new theme to support lockdown and spread awareness. With this campaign, she became a leader and inspired the students of her school and other schools to join her campaign. She was a constant guide and supervisor for the children in making the videos for 21 days on the given theme daily. The themes for the campaign included- a tribute to all soldiers, maintain social distancing, salute to the medical staff, support lockdown, tribute to mothers and teachers, be a helping hand, etc. All the themes have left an impact on society. This campaign was supported by many well-known people which was also telecasted live on DD News.

Shiny is a complete package and a valuable resource who believes in God, her parents, and her Guru.
